Flashback it through time to 1922
He used to be a poor boy
But when he met her, he fell head over heels
And not once did he feel
He could ever ever ever look back

He got his money and silver and gold

In return for that something he sold

Just like he sold his soul to the devil

In return for his one true girl

Flappers in style, sleazy deals and fights

He’d been long chasing that green light

Gave him feelings he don’t wanna lose

It's 1922

Flash forward to the summer of the green light

But now he was a rich man

But she had moved on to her riches and greed

Big and better things

But he would never ever ever give up

He got his money and silver and gold

In return for that something he sold

Just like he sold his soul to the devil

In return for his one true girl

Flappers in style, sleazy deals and fights

He’d been long chasing that green light

Gave him feelings he don’t wanna lose

It's 1922

How’d he get the money?

I heard he killed a man

How’d he get the money?

Is he really there?

And they all wonder and they all care

Why’d he get the money?

Where’d he get the money?

How’d he get the money?

Who gave him the money?

He got his money and silver and gold

In return for that something he sold

Just like he sold his soul to the devil

In return for his one true girl

Flappers in style, sleazy deals and fights

He’d been long chasing that green light

Gave him feelings he don’t wanna lose

It's 1922

Fortune and Fame

This life is not what you thought it’d be now
You thought you’d be something big by now

Stuck at some rinky dink cafe in L.A.

Waiting for a record deal to come to your way

We all wanna be hot shot rockstars

And rock out on our Fender Stratocaster guitars

Pretend we’re so cool with our made up names

We all chase fortune and fame

Your house will be what they call a mansion

Dress so hot in the latest fashion

You’ll sign a few autographs then go back

To your life of luxury when you sign that deal, that’s that

We all wanna be hot shot rockstars

And rock out on our Fender Stratocaster guitars

Pretend we’re so cool with our made up names

We all chase fortune and fame

Ride to the Grammy’s in a limousine

And be on the cover of a magazine

Pretend we’re so cool with our made up names

We all chase fortune and fame

Lindsay Lohan, Demi Moore, Mel Gibson, Charlie Sheen

Macauley Culkin, Amy Winehouse, Randy Travis, Michael Jackson

Marilyn Monroe, Brittany and Jamie Lynn

Miley Cyrus, Whitney Houston

We all wanna be hot shot rockstars
And rock out on our Fender Stratocaster guitars

Pretend we’re so cool with our made up names

We all chase fortune and fame

Ride to the Grammy’s in a limousine

And be on the cover of a magazine

Pretend we’re so cool with our made up names

We all chase fortune and fame

We all chase fortune and fame
We all chase fortune and fame

One Way Road Back Home

Traveled a long way to find my way back home

Roads blocked with obstacles like sticks and stones

Stop signs and traffic lights blinded the way I see

The home I once knew was not left in me

There’s mountains to climb and dirt roads to travel

Oceans to sail and ties to unravel

There’s rivers to cross and valleys to roam

But it’s a one way road back home

Lost along the road, no maps to guide your way

Stuck in the prairies in the middle of the day

But day turns into night, you’re lost and all alone

Nothing to turn to except that broken road

There’s mountains to climb and dirt roads to travel

Oceans to sail and ties to unravel

There’s rivers to cross and valleys to roam

But it’s a one way road back home

No matter how far you stray

You’ll always end up back in the same old place

If there’s one path you’ll always know

It’s that one way road back home

There’s mountains to climb and dirt roads to travel
Oceans to sail and ties to unravel

There’s rivers to cross and valleys to roam

But it’s a one way road back home

Wide Eyed Little Sly Guy

You keep your options open in case things come to end
You look at other girls with their cute sunglasses and trends

You know I see it in you but ignore it everyday

Someday I’ll show the evil behind your pretty face

You question all these thoughts but I’ll tell you yet again

You act like your so perfect but you’re heading for dead ends

Gonna end up alone, no friends nowhere to go

By then you’ve sent them running to a place nobody knows

You’re a dirty, rotten, no good, lying, cheating, stealing, jerk of a guy

You’re a crazy, nothing, no good, whining, going nowhere, think your so sly

Thought you’d never lose

but I’ll decide who

Will say goodbye

to you wide-eyed little sly guy

You’ll walk away laughing and forget all about me

You’ll look at other girls and find the one that fits your needs

But the one your looking at, she will soon leave you alone

You’ll come crawling back to me, and what I’ll say is “no”

When you come wanting me and you’re begging on your knees

Mark my words, I won’t look back, not for you or her, you’ll see

Cause I won’t forgive you, for all you put me through

Cause I’m not like those other girls, I’m way too good for you

You’re a dirty, rotten, no good, lying, cheating, stealing, jerk of a guy

You’re a crazy, nothing, no good, whining, going nowhere, think your so sly

Thought you’d never lose

but I’ll decide who

Will say goodbye

to you wide-eyed little sly guy

One day it’ll get you, what goes around comes back around

Don’t treat girls the way you do, it’ll bring you down

I won’t save you, I don’t rescue, it's gonna catch you

You’re a dirty, rotten, no good, lying, cheating, stealing, jerk of a guy
You’re a crazy, nothing, no good, whining, going nowhere, think your so sly

Thought you’d never lose

but I’ll decide who

Will say goodbye

To you dirty, rotten, no good, lying, cheating, stealing, jerk of a guy

You’re a crazy, nothing, no good, whining, going nowhere, think your so sly

Thought you’d never lose

but I’ll decide who

Will say goodbye

to you wide-eyed little sly guy

Remember

Met you on Fourth of May, I remember

Bright blue skies, a perfect day, I remember

At eight years old, your heart was gold

I knew I’d hold your hand

I remember

I remember

Our little kid fun

Singing that Beatles song “Here Comes the Sun”

And I know our love is made up of these songs

As long as they play on and on

We’ll keep writing letters

I remember

Your daddy’s tie and dressed up shoes, I remember

Heels that hurt and my dress brand new, I remember

At seventeen, you looked at me

And like a dream, we danced

I remember

I remember

Dancing in the rain

To James Taylor, Sing me "Sweet Baby James”

And I know our love is made up of these songs

As long as they play on and on

We’ll keep writing letters

I remember

Those letters that we once wrote, do you remember?

Sometimes left me post-it notes, don’t you remember?

Yesterday, found one I’d saved

And your words made me smile

And it said

I remember

When we said our vows

Like that Taylor song when the preacher said “speak now”

And I know our love is made up of these songs

As long as they play on and on

I’ll remember

When we walked down the aisle

Played a song or two and then we said I do

And I know our love is made up of these songs

And they keep playing on and on

We’ll always write those letters

I remember

Do you remember

‘Cause I remember

I’ll love you forever more

Just like the Beatles said, even “when we’re sixty four”
